Though both of the parents of Bawi Tha Iang are alive, the civil war in their village forced the family to flee from place to place. She comes from Chin State, where she lived at the Hakha Refugee Camp. She was sent to Love Children Home so that she could have a better future and receive a proper education. She enjoys dancing and studying English in school, and she hopes to become a doctor someday.
